| 3. Questions | There is reimbursement for the following staff groups at the moment; Clinical Pharmacists and social prescribers. JA raised that social isolation is a problem. Dr G explained that the social prescribers will be helping with this. Dr S agreed that loneliness is recognised among the ‘high intensity users’ there is a project in the pipeline to address this group. JA felt that too much emphasis is placed on using on-line services and digital self-help. Many patients do not have access to computers. Mr P asked if PCN will be working with social services Dr G explained that the social prescribers will act as a link between health and social care as well as the voluntary sector. Mr P asked where the funding is coming from Dr G explained there is centralised funding for the PCN and also some funding for the practices to enable them to engage. Mr P asked what is happening with the clinical commissioning groups (CCG’s) Dr G explained that the 5 north central London CCGs are merging to provide efficiency savings. Mr H asked what benefits patients will see from PCNs Dr S gave an example of how Medicus practices working together have been able to employ Paramedics, Clinical Pharmacists, Physicians Associates and Advanced Nurse Practitioners. This means that GP’s are able to focus on the patients that need them the most. Patient satisfaction with these associated professionals is proving to be very high. JA asked if the PCN is working with the local hospitals. Dr S confirmed that we are starting to build these important relationships. | |
